Our Eco-Team
At Newbold Church School we have 14 students who make up our Eco-Team, with representatives from each year group, from Year 1 to Year 6. Our current Eco team members are: Stanley, Rudy, Sam, Jacob, Elsa, Ruben, Skye, Daniel, Jacob, Daisy, Oliver, Alistair and Mollie-Mai.
These children were voted to represent classes by peers, following their presentation about why they should be chosen, and why they felt passionate about this role.
They meet regularly to discuss issues raised by pupils or staff, to continue to promote the eco-schools agenda and help to make our school a more eco-friendly place.
What is Eco-Schools?
In our experience young people care deeply about environmental issues and have a strong desire to actively protect our planet.
The Eco-Schools programme empowers young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond. Since 1994, millions of young people around the world have worked through the Eco-Schools Seven Steps before being recognised for their efforts with a prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag.
To achieve an Eco-Schools Green Flag schools, colleges or nurseries have to work on three of the Eco-Schools Ten Topics. These topics have been chosen to combat a variety of global issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss and plastic pollution. Head over to our topic pages to be inspired by examples from Early Years, Primary and Secondary settings and to view the topic questions asked on the Eco-Schools Green Flag application form.
